The Netherlands count more than 70 different educations for product design and deals as a consequence of this with a superfluous stream of fertile ideas.
However, skills and experience to recognize an innovative idea and transform it into an easy producible product at a competitive market price, are rare.
Over the past 16 years Jan Hoekstra worked as a product designer in the field of consumer products, working closely together with marketeers of A-brands, teaching young designers at the Design Academy and supporting purchasers while working with high quality manufacturers in Europe and the Far East.
He trained himself to come up with the best technical interpretation of innovative ideas in order to determine their specifications for production, taking marketing- and sales targets into account. During this process all requirements regarding functionality, ergonomics, materials, durability, quantities, cost prices and investments are being evaluated. The result is a solid blueprint for manufacturing.
Furthermore he set up a network of designers, marketeers and suppliers in order to provide a full service for ambitious designer labels with little experience in the field of manufacturing.
